Mindelo (São Vicente)
Mindelo (São Vicente) – this city is considered the cultural hub of activity and is proud of its rich tradition of music and art. Mindelo is considered the hub of Cape Verde’s emerging music industry (claiming a place in the “world music” scene in Europe and North America). The town retains much of its old charm with cobbled streets and colorful buildings. Most places have live bands which play or violinists entertaining tourists with their traditional Moura music (made famous by Cape Verdean Moura singer Cesaria Evora). A Portuguese colonial fort is also found here.
